The Institute's daily brief: one fact, one source, one implication for leaders.
OCTOBER 1, 2026
AI tools are commoditizing: only 6% of companies turn them into real value, thanks to an execution capability no competitor can buy. Source: BCG, 2026.
SEPTEMBER 30, 2026
66% of AI users act on its answers without verifying them and 56% have already made a mistake because of it: value comes from human checking, not model power (KPMG & U. Melbourne, 2025).
SEPTEMBER 28, 2026
Duolingo went “AI-first” and graded staff on their AI use; a year later it reversed course: adoption cannot be decreed (Fortune, 2026).
SEPTEMBER 25, 2026
Four cards, one takeaway: AI's barrier is never the technology but trust and governance — from responsibility (Workday, 2025) to evals (Gartner) and agent security (McKinsey, 2026).
SEPTEMBER 24, 2026
The share of data breaches involving unsanctioned shadow AI more than doubled to 43%, and two-thirds of firms don't govern it (IBM, 2026).
SEPTEMBER 23, 2026
Nearly two-thirds of organizations name security and risk, not technology, as the top barrier to scaling agentic AI (McKinsey, State of AI trust in 2026).
SEPTEMBER 22, 2026
An "eval" measures whether an AI answers correctly on your real cases, not on a demo: Gartner projects 60% of engineering teams on these tools by 2028, up from 18% in 2025.
SEPTEMBER 21, 2026
An HR vendor's AI screening tool is accused of filtering out over-40 applicants and the court rejects the "just software" defense: handing a decision to a third party's AI doesn't hand off responsibility (Mobley v. Workday, 2025).
SEPTEMBER 18, 2026
The week in brief: what decides AI's value isn't its power but the hand that stays on it — a committed leader, a human over the irreversible, a value target instead of a usage target.

The strongest predictor of AI success isn't technology but visible leadership commitment: an owned budget, a decision cadence, accountability. Source: YPrtnrs Institute, 2025.
SEPTEMBER 16, 2026
77% of French mid-sized firms use generative AI but only 17% see real time savings: adoption isn't value. Source: Bpifrance Le Lab, ETI Barometer 2026.
SEPTEMBER 15, 2026
Human-in-the-loop: a person can approve or override an AI decision at specific points; the EU AI Act makes it mandatory for high-risk systems as of 2 August 2026 (Article 14).
