NUGGETREFLECTION
Reflection — A clear direction beats tools with no destination
The biggest hindrance to AI at work isn’t tool access, it’s ambiguity. In a BCG study of close to 12,000 frontline employees, managers and leaders across more than a dozen markets, employees who get clear directions outperform those with greater access to AI tools. Only a third of frontline employees say their leadership’s communication about AI is clear, and just 28% see a strong connection between what leaders say and what the organization actually does. For any small or mid-sized firm, the lesson is simple: write and share a one-page direction — where AI should help, why, and what will not change — before adding a single tool.
